Remember the conversation between Kostas, Maria, and Julia at the airport, Καλώς όρισες?
Καλώς όρισες means ‘welcome‘. It’s the name of a song by the famous Greek singer Yiannis Parios:
Notice the similarity between καλώς όρισες (welcome) and πολύ καλά (very well).
Καλώς όρισες (or καλώς ορίσατε in the plural/polite form) literally means ‘well arrived’.
If you arrive into the Athens airport, you may see a sign saying ‘Καλώς ήρθατε στην Αθήνα’ – this is a more literal translation of ‘well come’:
